I agree strongly as to the importance of pro bono overall, and more specifically with the need to quantify the benefits for the firm to ensure that pro bono programs continue receiving support.

Pro Bono Net, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to justice, has developed software to help firms manage and promote their pro bono programs as well as quantify the results.  More detail is available at http://www.probono.net/good.
